From the school's beginning, a Junior ROTC program has been part of Woodrow's high school program.  In the 1930s, '40s, and early '50s, the school had the largest JROTC program in the nation, with 16 different companies and an ROTC band.

Junior ROTC provides its participants a quality citizenship, character, and leadership development experience, while fostering a spirit of service-learning within American communities. RTG & Associates,in partnership with Adams State University (ASU), is proud to supplement these experiences with academic credits for efforts both within the classroom, and earned upon outside of the normal academic environment. The skill sets learned emphasize knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation. Students demonstrate results in communication, physical fitness, working cooperatively, basic management skills, mental toughness, and teaming for the good of greater whole. Tuition is $60 per credit for all courses.

Earn academic credits and use them for your undergraduate degree-completion objectives by registering with ASU today. Speak to your local JROTC Cadre and ask them provide you a breakdown of your academic eligibility, based upon your sponsoring Service’s curriculum today. Challenge them to review these ASU sponsored credits by cross-walking your local JROTC curriculum against the course template provided in your Service’s briefing slides available at at this link: Army. Up to 22 of these credits are available for your four-years of academic effort while in the JROTC programs of the four Services. Course work with at least a ‘C’ grade are guaranteed transferable to an Associates degree earned on-line or on-campus with ASU, or based upon local decisions at your chosen institution nation-wide. Adams State University (ASU) is a regionally accredited public university located in Alamosa, Colorado. Our credits have a historical transferability rate of 99.7% and all grades are letter based.

Your local instructor simply fills out a grade sheet and provides your results directly to our ASU credentialed instructors.  These are then verified and posted at ASU, and you receive a personal ASU transcript within a couple of weeks after official posting. You then can order official transcripts to be sent to any institution or organization you request.  Hundreds of your fellow JROTC cadets have done so in the past 11 years. Over six thousand college courses have been registered for since this program began with three cadets registering in April 2002.
