FROM THE PTA PRESIDENT

Woodrow makes me wish I was in high school again. At the Spring Game, I was standing behind a group of tired and sweaty football players who had taken a knee to hear Coach Fish give a heartfelt summary of their year when it hit me. Standing alongside a large group of parents, fellow students, alumni, teachers, and coaches, who are all out on the field to show support, I was reminded that most high schools aren’t like this. I know mine certainly wasn’t.

While I know I can’t turn back time and be 16 again, I must say it’s been a joy to experience Woodrow from the perspective of a parent volunteer this year. Working to ensure all of the things that make this school so exceptional continue to remain available to our children has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my life. Volunteering alongside some of the most dedicated parents I’ve ever met, coming from all areas of our feeder pattern and all walks of life, has me convinced our school will flourish for years to come. Our school and our PTA have survived a couple of incredibly challenging years, and we are only just beginning to see the growth and achievement we are capable of when our parents, teachers, and students all work together to keep Woodrow as strong as it has always been. Under the guidance of the incoming President, Pennie Marshall, next year promises to be even better than this one!

I am so very grateful to all of my fellow PTA Members who served our school this year. I won’t lie, I’ve never been more excited for a summer break, but I’ve also never been more excited to see what a new school year brings. Just know that when we return to school in August the PTA will be there, as always, to make sure everyone at Woodrow has the information and support they need to make their school year the best ever!

Warmest Regards,

Kathy Ruff

2022-2023 PTA President

SUMMER PLANNING
Women in STEM

The Perry Outreach Program is a free, one-day, hands-on experience for high school women who are interested in pursuing careers in medicine and engineering. Students will hear from women leaders in these fields and try it for themselves by performing mock orthopaedic surgeries and biomechanics experiments.

The Perry Outreach Program is currently seeking applicants for its Dallas program. Participants should be students who gender-identify as women or nonbinary in grades 10 and up with an expressed interest in science, medicine, and/or engineering. Brick Campaign

Help support Woodrow by purchasing a commemorative brick!

The Class of 2003 installed the first commemorative bricks and benches in our horseshoe to create a Woodrow “Walk of Pride” seating area. You can purchase a brick for a student, an alumnus, your favorite teacher, or your class.

Orders are taken during the school year through the end of May. Installation will happen over the summer break.

Pricing: Current students can purchase a brick for $45. Once a student has graduated the price of the bricks will increase to $90.

Keep in mind that this is a Fundraiser and there is a limited amount of space in our courtyard.
