President's Letter

President's Letter

Hello Wildcat Family,

My name is Maria Hasbany and I am honored to be your PTA President for a second term this 2017-2018 school year. A lot has happened over the last 18 month. Mr. Richardson retired, his replacement did a "no-show" and then we hired Mr. Ewing. Unfortunately, he wasn't the right fit for Woodrow and moved on in June. FORTUNATELY, we have found an incredible new Principal that is experienced, dedicated and passionate about our campus and community. Please welcome Ms. Roxanne Cheek, formerly the Principal at Lipscomb Elementary. We expect great things under her leadership and look forward to many, many successful years to come.

Our PTA has continued to grow and become more active. Last year, we raised and spent over $65,000 on Staff Support, Wish List Items, Senior Class Activities and awarded the largest Scholarship in our PTA history! This year, we will be continuing our efforts on campus with programs like Welcome to Woodrow, Freshman Orientation, Learning Matters, Spirit Wear, Wish List, Woodrowstock, Scholarships AND our big fundraiser, The Homecoming Parade and Cookout on Thursday, October 12th.

On a personal note, this is my final year at Woodrow and my last PTA job. Beginning with Early PTA in 2000, then Lakewood Elementary and Long, it has been an amazing 17 year journey. The rewards have been many and the friendships that I have made along the way are priceless. The women and men that I have worked with have never ceased to inspire me with their commitment, dedication and hard-work..... you know who you are and I can't thank you enough for your support and encouragement throughout. There is nothing more satisfying that the pleasure of a job well done with the people you love.

So please get involved and be a part of the World Famous Woodrow Nation! Join the PTA, become a Homecoming Family or Corporate Sponsor and attend our wonderful events. I hope to see you on campus soon.

Warmly,

Maria Hasbany
